Health Education within the University of West Georgia’s Health Services, takes a proactive approach for providing quality personal health and wellness education. Innovative and relative programs that include class and group presentations, guest speakers, interactive activities, and social norming marketing campaigns provide a comprehensive, evidence based approach. Health Education annually evaluates and reviews the unique demands of the ever changing student body.

Lead Health Educator: Ronald King, Ed.S
Ron King is originally from Lumberton Mississippi, now residing in Powder Springs Georgia. He started at the University of West Georgia as a Health Educator and now serves as Health Services Lead Health Educator. Ron is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, where he was a four year starter for the baseball team. Upon leaving MVSU he played professional minor league baseball in Kansas City Missouri. Ron later obtained his masters degree in Health Education from Alabama State University and his Ed.S degree in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Ron's intent is clearly sustaining the well-being of the West Georgia Community. He is located in the new Health Services building, in Tyus Parking Lot, Office 114.
Health Educator: Mary Beth Thompson, MPH
Mary Beth is originally from Barrow County, GA. She comes to West Georgia after earning her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in Psychology, Sociology and Gender Studies from Valdosta State University. She went on to earn her Masters in Public Health from Florida State University and spent a year working for Planned Parenthood as a community health educator. In her spare time, Mary Beth reads, knits and tries to live a healthy lifestyle. She is passionate about educating and empowering faculty, staff and students at West Georgia to make the healthiest choices for themselves. She is located in the new Health Services building, Tyus Parking Lot, Office 117.
